Lee Hsien Yang says scandals have shattered people’s trust in PM Lee’s regime
SINGAPORE: Lee Hsien Yang has again denounced faith in his estranged elder brother, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s regime, pointing to a spate of recent scandals that have gripped headlines.
Mr Lee Hsien Yang said on Facebook this evening (23 July) that trust in his brother and his late father’s party, the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP), “has been shattered”.

In a post to a support group on Facebook for domestic helpers and employers alike, the man wrote that his helper worked for the family for four years. She’s married and has a daughter back home and “used to be a very hardworking helper”, he said.

The late SGT Uvaraja had more than 10 years in service, and was last an officer with Ang Mo Kio Police Division. We thank his family for his service and again express our deepest condolences. We have offered and are giving our fullest assistance to his family.

SINGAPORE: Singapore Democratic Party chairman Dr Paul Anantharajah Tambyah tackled two issues in a recent Facebook post related to the Speaker of Parliament.
For the first issue, he wished all the best to Mr Seah Kian Peng after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced the intent to nominate Mr Seah as the next Speaker of Parliament on Friday (June 21). The PAP MP (Marine Parade GRC) served as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore from 2011 to 2016.
Workers’ Party’s Abdul Shariff vows to overcome adversity and press on at East Coast
SINGAPORE — It has been a challenging period for the Workers’ Party (WP) as they had to cope with the resignations of two senior party leaders, Aljunied GRC member of parliament Leon Perera and youth wing president Nicole Seah, due to an extramarital affair. Their departure from the opposition party was announced by the Leader of Opposition, Pritam Singh, in a media conference held at their party headquarters last week.
While the recent episode might have slightly affected the morale of some members and volunteers of the party, Abdul Shariff Aboo Kassim reminds them that setbacks are a natural part of any political journey.
