Career fair for elderly job seekers get mixed responses from netizens

A career fair was held on Wednesday (June 15) at Pasir Ris East Community Club, targeting seniors aged 60 and above. The one-day Jobs-for-Seniors Fair saw about 800 vacancies from more than 10 companies. Positions for bartending, cook, basic care attendant, and service crew were included in the available positions.

According to a Facebook post by Pasir Ris Elias Community Club, the vacancies were in industries such as food and beverage, transport and healthcare. Some participating companies included supply chain solutions provider A-Sonic Logistics, Caregiving Welfare Association, Kentucky Fried Chicken Management Pte Ltd, Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium, and recruitment firm Cornerstone Global Partners.

Netizen asks if they should stay in Company A where over-time is expected or in Company B where there’s toxic work culture

A netizen facing a dilemma as to which company they should join took to social media, asking others for advice. Both companies they shared had mostly cons, and the decision was mainly weighed between the two.

In a Facebook post to anonymous confessions page SGWhispers, the netizen asked: “Company A or Company B?”

Inflation or robbery? S$11 Cai png (economy rice) with fish from AMK hawker centre

A customer thought it was too much to pay S$11 for cai png or economy rice with fish at a hawker centre. Members from the online community confirmed unanimously that the meal was a ripoff.

“I paid S$11 for lunch this morning. I bought this from a neighbourhood market. I know fish is expensive, but come on, is this too much. Inflation or robbery?” asked netizen u/Dagachi_One in a Reddit forum on June 15. A photo of the meal in a transparent plastic container consisted of a piece of fish, some yong tau foo and rice.

A young Singaporean content creator has been using an application’s face morphing feature to turn himself into Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong “until he notices” and online users are loving it.

TikTok user @teocyrus recently began a series on his page where he uses one of the app’s many effects to transform himself into Mr Wong.

VIDEO | Cyclists take up all 3 lanes of West Coast Highway, netizens ask ‘where are the TP and LTA officers?’

A group of cyclists were caught on camera taking up all three lanes of the West Coast Highway, endangering themselves and other road users. A video of the incident was posted on Facebook page SG Road Vigilante – SGRV on Thursday (June 16).

It appears that the video showing the group’s reckless behaviour was captured by a fellow cyclist’s GoPro camera. Several cyclists were seen veering across adjacent lanes, while the speedometer in the top right corner of the video indicated that they were going over 50km/h.
