SINGAPORE — Learning never stops with Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), which has announced new courses for adult learners on becoming a social media influencer, building digital platforms and maintaining online businesses, among others. The video courses will be available from September of this year and will feature Singaporean media personalities who have built successful online businesses.

In a press release on Thursday (Aug. 8), NP proudly announced its latest rollout — video courses for adult learners wanting to upskill themselves in savvy online marketing and other social media expertise.

Called The Masters Collective, the video courses will reportedly take around 7 hours to complete and will draw on the technical abilities, advise and experience of well-known digital media personalities.

The Masters Collective will feature courses on how to build a technology platform with millions of users and followers and how to become a successful social media influencer, among others.

The courses will tap Singaporeans who have made it big in the online world, people like Marcus Tan, co-founder of online marketplace Carousell, and Rachel Lim, founder of fashion brand Love, Bonito. The media personalities will be sharing invaluable tips on how to succeed in the online workplace.

“Besides presenting the compelling stories of these successful self-starters, The Masters Collective also covers a wide range of practical skills training that will be of relevance to aspiring entrepreneurs and individuals who are seeking self-improvement,” said NP in a media release.

The first course, slated to begin on September 9, is all about being a social media influencer and maintaining social media presence while constantly growing follower numbers.

Big Singaporean social media influencers Bong Qiu Qiu, a “shopaholic” with 292,000 Instagram followers; Malaque Mahdaly, a former Singapore Idol participant with 186,000 Instagram followers; and vlogger Tan Jun Jie who co-founded The Meatmen Channel, an online channel featuring cooking tips, will be sharing their best tips and tricks with learners.

The next course, which begins on September 16, will be all about how to start and fashion and lifestyle business, with Love, Bonito founder Lim lending her expertise.

On September 24, actor and director Alaric Tay will be teaching a course on how to break into the television and film industry, as well as sharing insights and experience tips on producing and directing.

Carousell co-founder Tan will be featured in a course scheduled to begin on November 18.

Each course is priced at S$90 before GST and will take around 7 hours to complete. Working adults (Singapore citizens and permanent residents) who want to avail of the courses will be entitled to 70 percent course subsidies and have the option of using their SkillsFuture Credit for the programme.
