After a bus driver was filmed wholeheartedly helping an elderly passenger on an electric scooter get off the bus, Singaporeans are praising him, giving him their respect for his enthusiasm to help.

A heart-warming video featuring a bus driver assisting an elderly passenger was shared with an online group on Tuesday (Oct 19). Since its posting, the video has garnered over 13 thousand views.

At the beginning of the clip, the bus driver was seen running out of his driver’s corner to the folded ramp in the middle of the bus. He moved quickly to help the elderly man. The bus driver then laid the ramp down on the ground very carefully and patiently waited for his elderly passenger to safely exit the bus.

While many responded to the video praising the bus driver and giving him respect, others mentioned that some elderly passengers who get on a bus in a wheelchair or an electric scooter can actually stand.

“You’d (be surprised) that they can stand and queue at the 4-D Counter,” wrote one. Another said, “Some seniors just don’t even bother to say thank you or (give) a friendly wave.”

Still, another wrote, “I like this type of bus captain. Look at the way he lowered the latch gently on the ground. (Not like) those who just drop it with a loud thud!
