A popular local influencer was at Paya Lebar Quarter recently, and a cart that offered personalized items with patches caught her eye.
An elderly man who runs the cart told TikToker Genevieve Sia @genevievesjy that on some days, he only makes a few cents from selling his wares.
Ms Genevieve posted a video on Sunday (Dec 11) all about the uncle’s cart, appealing to the public to help him out. “the Sanrio patches are actually really cute and only $2 each!!! pls support the uncle at PLQ level 1 if you can🥹,” she wrote.

“There are so many patches to choose from, and the Sanrio ones are really cute,” she says in the video.
Ms Genevieve eventually got a pink pouch with a My Melody patch.
Drawstring bags and sling bags are also available at the uncle’s cart, and the patches range from Elmo and Cookie Monster from Sesame Street to Doraemon, to Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters, Snoopy, Mickey Mouse and others, for a truly customized piece.
She wrote that the drawstring bag she chose cost $6 and the patch cost $2, for a total of $8.
“The cart is run by this elderly man and he told me that on some days he only makes a few cents. So if you can come down to support him, please do. He’ll be there till the 25th of December.”
Ms Genevieve also said the uncle’s products would be good Christmas gifts and added that she loves her “really cute” new drawstring bag.
Her video has since gotten almost 110,000 views.
Commenters on her post were touched that Ms Genevieve was so willing to help the uncle.
Others appeared to be set to buy some customized bags from him.
