Low-cost airline Thai VietJet will fly directly from Singapore to Bangkok from 28 April 2022 and to Phuket from 2 June 2022.
Thai VietJet chief executive officer Woronate Laprabang said that the services would play a critical role in the recovery of the Thai economy while also serving growing travel demand.
“We are thrilled to connect Thailand and Singapore through direct flights that will provide more leisure and business accessibility as well as opportunities for citizens of both countries,” said Laprabang.
Initially, the new international service from Singapore to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) will operate flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and direct flights from Singapore to Phuket will run every Thursday and Sunday. Of late Thai VietJet has also successfully initiated its maiden flight from Bangkok to Phnom Penh and resumed its international flight service between Bangkok and Da Nang. In addition, the airline added additional flights between Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.
These timely developments coincide perfectly with the lifting of travel restrictions to Thailand. As of today (April 1) negative RT-PCR results before departure and RT-PCT tests on day 5 in Thailand will no longer be required. Travellers entering Thailand need only purchase Covid-19 insurance with a coverage of USD20,000. Other exciting developments within the airline include its flight network expansion and its official loyalty programme, SkyFun which comes with a virtual “FUN Coin”, which is aimed at enhancing passengers’ travel experience. The loyalty programme is categorized into different tiers; silver, gold and platinum.
Thai Viet Jet currently has some 16 aircraft in its fleet. It started operations with three aircraft in 2016. It was also awarded the Fastest Growing Low-Cost Carrier of the Year by Global Business Outlook in 2020.
