After a netizen shared over social media the bill for three drinks and two pieces of bread, he noted that the drinks were served in a “very small cup leh” and were “very expensive leh.”

The bill, including a service charge and GST, amounted to $20.60. Here is the breakdown of his $20.60 order: One cup of hot Milo for $4, 1 filter coffee for $4.50, 1 block (sic) coffee for $3.50, and 1 order of parota (2 ccs) $5.50, plus 10 per cent service charge and 7 per cent GST.

Jamus Lim: Adoption should be a win-win-win process to help address issue of Singaporeans ‘not having enough babies’

In a Facebook post on Saturday (May 28), Workers’ Party Member of Parliament Jamus Lim addressed the topic of adoption, which he said “should be a win-win-win process” that would help address the issue of Singaporeans “not having enough babies.”

With the country’s fertility rate gone down over the past few decades, no wonder that fertility treatments are now subsidized, and adoption laws have been revised. Assoc Prof Lim wrote that he had recently spoken on the topic in Parliament concerning additional concerns on the adoption process, which he said had come about after “extensive discussions with adoptive parents, and those in the industry.”

Female domestic helper in Singapore allegedly abused by her employer

A woman who pleaded guilty last month to physically abusing her helper from 2017 to 2018 was slapped on Monday (May 30) with a S$1,000 fine and a five-month jail sentence.

Thirty-five-year-old Zhao Lin, who was working as a nurse at the time when the helper was employed by her, would sometimes even hit the maid in the presence of Zhao’s young son, who was only four years old. Zhao would also at times take away between $100 to $200 a month from the helper’s salary of $500, and even hurled the helper’s phone to the ground, destroying it.

Serangoon Central fire aftermath: nearby HDB residents suffering from noise and air pollution, repair works stopped halfway

One person was taken to the hospital following a fire at a coffee shop at 261 Serangoon Central Drive on May 14. The fire involved the coffeeshop’s kitchen exhaust ducting on the first floor of the building. “It’s been two to three weeks (since the incident),” wrote Facebook page Complaint Singapore member on Monday (May 30).

“The repair materials for the vents are already here, but repair works were paused hallway. Even the machine is here. They built up the vent pipe halfway on May 17, and they completely just stopped doing so,” said Ms Zhining. “Why are the residents staying here suffering due to the aftermath of the fire?” asked the concerned individual, noting they had to endure unfinished repair works from the Serangoon Central Block fire.

Dee Kosh says “Go crazy with the memes and attacking me” after admitting to sexual offences involving underage boys

Former YouTuber and radio disc jockey Dee Kosh took to Instagram to say his piece on Monday (May 30) after admitting to sexual offences involving two underage teenage boys.

In an Instagram story, 33-year-old Darryl Ian Koshy wrote: “Alot to say & explain But not the right time Please leave my loved ones and people I care for out of it Go crazy with the memes and attacking me. Have a field day,” he added.
