‘Unions should be fiercely independent’ netizens tell Ng Chee Meng after he posted photo of PAP, NTUC logos together

 

Singapore — In a recent Facebook post, NTUC head Ng Chee Meng showed a photo of himself in a shirt with the People’s Action Party insignia pinned on top of the NTUC logo,.

This did not go over well with many netizens.

Singapore — There has been an outpouring of support, and thanks, for Raeesah Khan since the news broke late on Tuesday evening that she had quit the Workers’ Party and resigned her seat in Parliament (Sengkang GRC).

Exactly one month ago, on Nov 1, Ms Khan admitted that she lied when she told the House on Aug 3 that she had accompanied a victim of sexual assault to the police station, and accused the police of making inappropriate remarks. It happened during a debate on empowering women.

Samwoh CEO says sorry for causing floods at Pasir Ris, after company fined $17,000

Singapore — Samwoh Corporation’s CEO has apologised for the unauthorised drainage works that caused massive floods at the Pasir Ris-Tampines traffic junction and stranded more than a dozen vehicles in August and made it necessary to rescue five from the flooding.

Samwoh’s CEO Eric Soh said, “On behalf of Samwoh, I sincerely apologise for the errors that led to the Incident and the inconvenience caused to residents and motorists in the vicinity.

COVID death toll: How the funeral industry has changed since the pandemic began

Singapore — The Covid-19 pandemic has been a challenge for all frontline workers, and while much has been written about the added work that healthcare workers have faced, we do not often hear about how the pandemic, especially the recent rises in infections and deaths in the country, has affected those who take care of the remains of those who have died from Covid-related causes.

In March of last year, shortly after the pandemic began, the National Environment Agency (NEA) issued guidelines for handling the bodies of people who had tested positive for Covid.

An egg-shaped asteroid is rockin’ ‘n’ rollin’ its way to us and is expected to enter Earth’s orbit within a week or so.

This 330-metre-long chunk of rock would cover an entire football field, scientists say. And it has a name.
