How to automate marketing for your startup

Marketing automation is the automation of your emails, social activity, landing pages and customer relationship management (CRM). Marketing automation leverages on different platforms and strategies to nurture leads in an efficient and economic manner. It works as a game changer to generate new leads and in return revenue.
Marketing automation works for any business whether it is a multinational corporation, small-medium enterprise or startup.  Marketing automation can be a particularly helpful tactic for those working in the startup space– it can help them to scale up and exceed new targets year after year.
Although many people tap on marketing automation tools such as Marketo, Act-On and Hubspot, which can cost a few thousand dollars, there is a range of more affordable tools better suited for startups. These tools are instrumental for those looking to scale up fast on a limited budget.
The following three marketing automation techniques are easy to use with scalability and within a reasonable price range:

  • Content discovery:A good campaign begins with good content, and creating good content requires a bit of inspiration.  You can spend hours of your day scanning the web for high quality content, but if you’re not so into that idea, you can utilize content discovery automation. Try tools such as Google Alerts and Feedly, and then connect them to your social automation tool, such as Oktopost. You can also connect it to Slack so members of the social media team channel are updated if your competitor is mentioned on social media such as Twitter.
  • Content distribution: Now that you have created highly-targeted and creative content, why not automate its distribution to inform your target audience when you have new and great content for them?

You can use automation tools to automate your social media posts by scheduling posts in advance, managing lists, and seeing how posts have done via analytics.

  • Automate lead collection: Your landing pageis one of the most important (or perhaps the most important) element of your campaign. You have convinced the read to click on your page so now you have to figure out how to deliver your message.  Unbounce and PageWiz are great resources to help you get your landing page working at maximum capacity.
