A netizen on r/singapore posted a “personal observation from the circle of people” that they know, saying that some who aren’t successful in functional adult life announce themselves as life “gurus”.

It would be better, opined Reddit user awinterofdiscontent7, for them to get their act together first.

I noticed a trend of folks who really haven’t gotten ‘adulting’ done. EG, cannot hold down a job, toxic relationships, no boundaries, debt…etc,” the Redditor wrote on Nov 2.

“And then suddenly they announce on their socials they are now

  • Wellness Coach
  • Some sort of spiritual gurus
  • Fortune tellers/life advisers……

It’s like those annoying “gimme 10 seconds of your attention” videos.

Maybe try getting your life together before extolling life advice to other people.”

Commenters on the post told them to just ignore these so-called “life coaches.”

“Idk man they probably following some sigma grindset,” wrote another.

Another wrote that these types of “coaches” have been around for some time now.

Some commenters seemed to believe they are scammers.

However, one pointed out that “It’s not limited to people who haven’t ‘adulted’. Plenty of people who have stable relationships, housing, full time jobs, are also doing it. It’s easy money if you know how to manipulate people.”

“Probably because it’s the easier way to make money without actually having to get their lives together,” commented one Redditor.

A female Redditor had a useful analogy, which did not go over well with other commenters.

It’s “easier to tell someone to get their life in order, rather than get your own life in order,” wrote another.
