Nathaniel Koh and Fadli Fawzi pairing a regular at Marine Parade GRC

Both Nathaniel Koh and Fadli Fawzi were candidates at Marine Parade GRC in the 2020 Singapore General Election, and ever since then the two have regularly visited the residents in the area as they did not slow down on their community outreach at the constituency after the election.

Earlier this week on Tuesday, Koh and Fadli were at Block 44 in Chai Chee in the evening with fellow party volunteers. During the visit, Fadli noticed quite a number of food delivery riders and wondered whether their jobs were secure as the economy is opening up and more people are starting to go out and have their meals.

“Blk 44 of Chai Chee stands at the borders of three different GRCs- East Coast, Aljunied and Marine Parade. We noticed a lot of Grab food delivery riders in this block so we took the opportunity to ask further into the gig industry and the different issues they were facing,” posted Fadli on Facebook.”

“As most of their work is based on demand, there was a slowing down in work as more people start dining out. As a result, the current increase in prices do affect their pockets badly.”

“While the gig industry does provide employment, the uncertain nature of these jobs mean that many of these workers are in a precarious position. It is something we should always keep an eye on as the economy shifts again.”

It would be no surprise if by now the duo have formed a good understanding and partnership as they had contested together in the previous election, getting 42% of the votes.

“As we wait for our regular outreach to residents of Chai Chee to begin, one of our team members caught Fadli and I deep in conversation on the next phase of our outreach as we inch closer towards the general election which has to be called by November 2025,” shared Koh.
