Members of the public often highlight that the best way to prevent scammers from targeting unsuspecting victims is to occupy their time by playing along; for those who have the time to do so, of course.

Local actress Nurul Aini did that and pranked the scammer who was impersonating an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer calling her phone.

Goh Meng Seng wants daughter to develop critical thinking while studying at UK university

People’s Power Party’s secretary general Goh Meng Seng is sending her daughter to a top university in the UK so that she will be able to develop her true potential and a thought process that is robust and analytical.

In a Facebook posting, Goh said that some of his friends doubted his decision to spend a great amount of money on his daughter’s studies, and it would have been fine for her to stay in Singapore which would have been cheaper.

The Online Citizen is back! — Terry Xu announces TOC will operate from Taiwan; focus on ‘commentaries and analysis on current affairs’ in Asia

A year after its operations were shut down, socio-political website The Online Citizen (TOC) is set to return.

Editor-in-Chief wrote in a Friday (Sept 16) Facebook post, “Dear supporters, past, present, and future, we are back.” Mr Xu, however, announced that there would be changes to the site.

“Blatant racism in Singapore?” was the headline of a post shared on Reddit, an online news forum on Thursday (15 Sept). The post recounted the writer’s experience being a firsthand witness of outright racial bias.

“I was just at a hair salon today and was getting a hair treatment down at the sinks when a Chinese guy was escorted in by a Malay stylist,” the post read. “The moment the stylist wanted to sit him down to wash his hair for him, the guy started asking if she was Chinese.”
