SINGAPORE: An online user claiming to have seen two elderly individuals working as security at city hall for an NDP rehearsal has sparked an online conversation about suitable jobs for the elderly in Singapore.

An online user took to social media on Sunday (July 23) to share a photo of two individuals donning Aetos Security vests. “These two grannies were seen deployed as security personnel at the recent NDP preview,” the caption read. “Work till you drop dead much?”

Maid says her agent forced her to sign contract; as a result, she was not allowed to call family & kids for 6 months and had no day off

SINGAPORE: A foreign domestic helper working in Singapore for about eight years now took to social media sharing about her journey as a maid that began in 2010 in Kuwait.

In a post to a support group on social media for domestic helpers and employers alike, the maid wrote that she worked in Kuwait and Malaysia before coming to Singapore. She wrote that when she was in Kuwait, she had no day off for the first few months and only got some time to herself after seven months. Following that, she decided to work in Malaysia as she felt it was nearer to her home country, the Philippines.

SINGAPORE: On Tuesday (Jul 25), The Workers’ Party confirmed said that its vice-chairman, Aljunied GRC MP Faisal Manap, had suffered a cardiac condition and was in the ICU.

Thankfully, WP Chief and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh told Bedok Reservoir Road residents by the following evening that Mr Faisal’s condition had improved.

Lee Hsien Yang slams Desmond Lee’s letter as “ad hominem attacks and lies”

 

 

SINGAPORE: The late Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s younger son, Mr Lee Hsien Yang, has condemned the ruling party minister Desmond Lee’s open letter against him, castigating it as a series of “ad hominem attacks and lies”. Not stopping there, Mr Lee Hsien Yang criticised Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, his elder brother as well, calling him “the highest paid prime minister in the world”.

Rocked by recent scandals, the Government was trying to silence its critics, Mr Lee Hsien Yang told The Independent Singapore on July 26.
