Kuala Lumpur — Malaysian comedian Shahrol Azizie Azmi of Shiro’s eight-month-old son successfully underwent surgery for a chronic kidney ailment recently. According to the comedian’s wife, Nor Farhanah Syamimi, their son Ismail Rifqi underwent five hours of surgery at a private hospital in Subang Jaya and it went smoothly.
“The surgery took place at 9.30am and ended at 2.30pm. Our baby is still weak, but he is out of danger and no longer in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital,” she said in a news report today.
In addition, Nor Farhanah said that her husband and her were both relieved that their son’s surgery was over, even though the doctors told them that Ismail Rifqi would need follow-up treatment later, according to New Straits Times.
“We were terribly worried about him throughout the surgery period, and could neither rest nor relax. Every minute was spent thinking of him.”
According to Nor Farhanah, Shahrol could not accompany her into the hospital because of the strict standard operating procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of Covid-19. The comedian waited patiently in his car for the surgery to be completed. On Sept 9, it was reported that Shahrol and Nor Farhanah were heartbroken to discover that their son required treatment for one of his kidneys which was swollen.
Ismail Rifqi’s condition was discovered by Nor Farhanah when she noticed how easily he caught a fever.
