Malaysia –The Best Minds of Sourcing World to Converge

The 2017 Global Business Services Network (GBSN) forum, which took place in KL this week, provided a platform for the business community and decision makers to gather and discuss global business trends and shifts in business technology that affect the Global Business Services / Shared Services industry.

The forum, themed “Tit For Tech – Handling Disruption: Responding to Changing Landscape With Sourcing Models”,  attracted regional business decision makers and the best minds in the industry.

The speakers debated on how disruptive technology, namely the move towards robotics and automation, will impact the sourcing world, something that cannot be ignored and is clearly turning the traditional sourcing model on its head.

Bobby Varanasi, CEO of Matryzel Consulting said: “The GBSN Forums are well organized, with a good range of speakers and topics providing great insights into the Malaysian, Regional and International markets.

“The events also help me keep 2 steps ahead of my client’s needs and provide excellent networking opportunities with industry peers,”

Over the years – the GBSN forum has established itself as the foremost event for the Global Business Services sector in the ASEAN region and is expected to attract 175 C-Level executives from across the region.

According to Sritharan Vellasamy, Founder and CEO of GBSN, with the increasing change in direction witnessed by the industry, it is vital that discussions revolve around the need of the hour.

This is a void we are filling not just through the GBS Forums – but also by extending the conversations through our media channels,” he said.

He further commented, that today the industry aspires to articulate value through sustainable outcomes.

“With automation being a positive disrupter and having the potential to shake up the traditional sourcing model that is mainly focused on offshore and labour arbitrage, The future of sourcing is here and its impact will be impressive,” he said.

Furthermore, since its inception in 2015, The GBS forum series, has gained relevance not only in Malaysia but the region as commented by by Hew Wee Chong, Vice President, Investment & Industry Development, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC):        “It is one of leading GBS events in the region where profound thoughts, new disruptive methods or technologies and industry best practices are shared and discussed among all relevant stakeholders under one roof.”
