Dear Editor,
I refer to the article, Workers’ Party statement: Pritam Singh is prepared to give evidence before the Committee of Privileges.
The leader of WP Pritam Singh reiterated on 5 Dec that he was prepared to give evidence before COP. The party added that Pritam Singh had already made it clear on 2 Dec during press conference about his intention.
To me, Pritam Singh was calling a bluff. COP will not or should not call upon Pritam Singh to give evidence to respond Raeesah Khan’s allegations. The assembly of COP is mainly to investigate Raeesah Khan’s lies. I don’t think it’s pertinent for Pritam Singh to give evidence.
I believe COP has established the fact that Raeesah Khan had actually lied in August and Raeesah Khan has accepted responsibility and resigned. The case closed.
As for the allegations, it’s WP’s internal problem, Pritam Singh either chooses to refute or rebut the allegations or keep silent. Both Pritam Singh and Sylvia Lim are lawyers by profession. Now the ball is in their court. They are answerable to the public, especially the voters. COP has nothing to do with their internal problems. This is to avoid the investigation becoming a political issue.
