Young girls who’ve always dreamed of being part of “Let(ting) It Go” (and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?) and belting out “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” may soon have a chance to do so as the hit musical, Frozen, is opening in Singapore on Feb 5, 2023.
Auditions for the younger versions of the two lead characters—sisters Elsa and Anna—have been announced, and those who are interested may apply here.
However, they have only until Oct 2 to do so.
The musical, which is based on Disney’s 2013 blockbuster, is produced by Base Entertainment Asia, which manages the Sands Theatre at the Marina Bay Sands.
Children between the ages of 8 and 11 years old from any cultural background may apply. (Base Entertainment noted that only young girls who are 8 years old by Feb 1, 2023, will be considered).
“Birth certificates must be shown on the day of auditions to verify proof of age,” the company added.
Here are the additional requirement for the two roles.
For Elsa, the height requirement is between 140 and 142 cm.
She is described as the “bright, poised, elder princess of Arendelle who adores her younger sister. She aims to be a perfect daughter, but wrestles with a dangerous talent.”
Meanwhile, aspiring actresses who wish to play Anna, the younger of the two, must be between 125 and 127 cm tall.
Anna is characterised as the “energetic, free-spirited younger princess of Arendelle who dotes on every word and movement of Elsa. She is heartbroken when she is isolated from Elsa by their parents.”
The company added that there is no flexibility on the height requirement, and the height of the little girls auditioning will be measured before they go inside the t auditions venue.
Auditions will be held on Oct 8 and 9 at the Sands Theatre of Marina Bay Sands.
Registration begins at 8am.
Those who want to join the priority waitlist for buying tickets may sign up here. Doing so will offer them a 10 per cent discount, valid until 11:59 pm on Oct 9.
“Frozen is about a return from isolation and a community healing. And so, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to present this beautiful show there at this moment in time, and we just can’t wait for audiences to experience its remarkable cast, crew, and orchestra on the same stage that has been our home in Singapore for years,” Felipe Gamba, the Vice President for International Strategy and Licensed Partnerships, Disney Theatrical Productions, is quoted as saying. /TISG
