Singapore – A touching incident of cyclists stopping to assist a fellow rider who got into an accident with a taxi is circulating online.

A photo of two GrabFood riders by the side of the road was posted on Facebook community page SG PCN Cyclist on Dec 31, 2021.

“While I was on my way delivering, I saw fellow Grab cyclist got into an accident with a taxi. I decided to check on him whether he’s ok,” wrote Gilbert Ak on his post.

Mr Ak said that the rider did not sustain major injuries and noted that other riders stopped to help.

“He told me he sayang his bike is now wicked. I told him, it’s ok; I’m more glad that you’re still alive.”

“They are unsung heroes slogging all kinds of weather to feed our stomach,” commented Facebook user Arzool Rahman.

“Grab delivery man is not easy (to) earn money. My son also delivery Grab; I also scared sometimes got accident at road side,” added a concerned parent.

Regarding the wrecked bicycle, netizens said that the rider’s safety was more important than the damage.

Facebook user Amirul Rashid, who appears to be the rider involved in the accident, shared that the cost of repairing the bicycle was too much.

“I ended up changing the front wheel only. As long as it can move and I can continue to deliver food, I am fine. But it will take one to two weeks,” he said.

When he asked if anyone could spare a bike for the given period as he needed the daily income, one Derrick Yeo stepped up to offer his bike.

“I have a bike if he doesn’t mind; it’s one speed. Quite new,” said Mr Yeo, reaching out to the rider to send his bike over. Despite Mr Rashid’s offer to lease the bicycle from Mr Yeo, the latter said to keep the money for his family instead.
