News of students in China equipped with adjustable desk chairs allowing them to take power naps in between classes is something that should be adopted across all schools, said the online community.

A Facebook post by People’s Daily on Sept 19 provided a glimpse into the classroom situation at Shuiyifang Primary School in Qinhuangdao, China’s Hebei Province.

The children use adjustable chairs that can recline, allowing them to take a snooze during break time.

Some students even use a pillow or an eye mask, while others use blankets to complete their nap experience.

Another photo shows how the chairs, equipped with lumbar support, recline backwards to facilitate napping.

The tables are also adjustable to allow the students to extend their legs underneath and realign them when the class is in session.

It was reported that the desk chairs were implemented in the classrooms in September. They come with head and footrests for added comfort.

Two other schools in Zhejiang Province also adopted the same desk chairs in their classrooms.

The idea was a hit among netizens, who said this should be adopted in classrooms worldwide.

“This wonderful technique will improve their efficiency to build up their career in future, and that too is essential for the country as well,” noted Facebook user Shamsul Alam.

“That’s why their children are such a prodigy and the nation (is) enhancing rapidly,” commented Facebook user Nahid Ahmed.

One Yajna Bhugwandass explained that a student’s schedule was usually cramped until late in the evening; thus, a nap was crucial to performance.

Research shows that power naps increase alertness, improve cognitive functioning and reduce stress.

A power nap lasts from 10 to 30 minutes and is enough to give individuals all the benefits of sleep minus the feeling of grogginess after waking up. /TISG
