All Nets services down, affecting sales transactions and top-up services islandwide

UPDATE: Nets said on Facebook that services have been restored. Investigations over the cause of the outage are reportedly ongoing:

“Thank you for your patience. All NETS services (including top-up services) are now restored and consumers are able to make NETS transactions and at all NETS acceptance points.”

All services by e-payment service provider Nets are down across the island today. The e-payments giant revealed on Facebook at 2.27pm today that all Nets services are temporarily unavailable and that it is working to restore services:

“NETS would like to inform our merchants and consumers that all NETS services are temporarily unavailable. NETS users will not be able to perform any NETS Transactions (including point-of-sales transactions and top up services) for the time being.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused and are working to restore services as soon as possible.”

It is unclear what the cause of the outage is.

Nets allows customers who have accounts with various banks such as DBS, POSB, HSBC, Maybank, OCBC, Standard Chartered and UOB to make easy payments at more than 100,000 acceptance points in Singapore. Besides allowing customers to make online payments, it also serves 35,000 Unified Point-Of-Sale terminals and 30,000 QR acceptance points.
