On 27 September 2016 at about 6.44pm, the Police received a call saying that a 39-year-old man had locked himself and a 2-year-old boy at a unit at Blk 462 Sembawang Dr.

The man refused to open the door to police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had locked himself in the house with the boy following a dispute with the boy’s family members. Police said that the safety of the boy is of paramount importance to them and that the boy is unharmed.

At 12.03pm on 28 September 2016, officers from the Special Operations Command broke into the unit and arrested the 39-year-old man for Wrongful Confinement and drug-related offences. Police investigations are ongoing.
