Man caught man lying about S R Nathan claims he did vote for the ex-President, but not at ballot box

The Straits Times yesterday (23 Aug) quoted a person who came early to pay respects to the late ex-President of Singapore, Mr S R Nathan.3The person the newspaper quoted, Mr Lin Rong Xiang, said that he voted for Mr Nathan during the presidential election. Mr Lin however could not have voted for Mr Nathan because he became the Elected President due to a walkover – both in the years 1999 and 2005.

Netizens who were upset with Mr Lin’s response to the newspaper engaged him in his Facebook to confront him about the untruth. Mr Lin’s response to them is nothing less than amusing.

These are some of the comments which are circulating in social media.

02 03Mr Lin responded pseudo-philosophically to the netizens who engaged him and never retracted the comments he made to ST. He said that he did vote for Mr Nathan – only not at the ballot box, but in his heart.

Mr Lin was also among the hundreds of Singaporeans who flooded the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) a day after former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew passed away on 23 March 2015 to pay their final respects. He was featured in a local TV channel on that occasion as well.
