PM Lee collapses on stage while delivering the National Day Rally Speech

PM Lee Hsien Loong collapsed mid-way into English portion of his National Day Rally speech on Sunday night. His rally speech has been disrupted.

Before his collapse, the Prime Minister was talking about the pending changes to the Elected Presidency.

2The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement saying:

“PM Lee took ill while speaking at the National Day Rally. The medical team is attending to him right now. They assess that his condition is not serious. PMO will update in due course.”

The Independent Singapore wishes Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong a speedy recovery.

UPDATES FROM PMO:

Update 1: DPM Teo Chee Hean has spoken to PM Lee, and says that PM will resume his National Day Rally speech.

Update 2: PM Lee was feeling unsteady because of prolonged standing, heat and dehydration. His heart is fine and he did not have a stroke.

Update 3: Thank you everyone for your well wishes. PM Lee will resume his National Day Rally speech at 10:40pm.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was back to deliver his National Day Rally Speech at 10.40pm. He said that doctor’s cleared him for the Speech, but that he will have a full check up after the event.
