Sheltered walkway collapsed at Bukit Batok

Channel NewsAsia reported that a sheltered walkway at Block 116 Bukit Batok West Avenue 6 collapsed today morning (Jun 17) after the crane boom of a lorry crashed into it.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the incident occurred at 9.37am and that no one was injured. A car parked nearby was badly damaged though.
Bernard Wong Shee Fen shared everal pictures of the accident in his Facebook.

A Bukit Batok resident, Toh San who also shared pictures of the accident in Facebook claimed that it happened right in front of Bukit Batok zone 1 RC and that the walkway was built about 6 months ago. Toh San further asked why the walkway toppled so easily when it was bolted to the ground. He claimed that the foundation appeared weak and shallow.

Toh San who supported Singapore Democratic Party at the last by-election said that the accident was ‘retribution’. “Tonite karaoke session at bt batok zone 1 RC cancelled, I suppose,” he added.
