SINGAPORE: A Singaporean Airlines passenger recently took to social media to share a photo of a meal sticker wherein the meal code was shortened in a head-turning abbreviation. In response, many other netizens have tried to decode the label, which got a laugh out of many.
An online user took to a news forum on Monday (June 26) to share a photo of a Singapore Airlines in-flight meal sticker, which made quite an impression on netizens.
“Wow, Singapore Airlines really pulls out all the plugs when you book the cook,” the caption read. Featured on the post was a photo of an in-flight meal sticker which read, “SQ W BUTT CHICK W/JALFREZ.”
Based on the date on the sticker, the photo was taken on June 12 on an SQ flight from Sydney, Australia, to Singapore.
In response to the post, a handful of netizens commented, collectively making jokes and trying to make sense of the abbreviation.
“Butter chicken and Chicken Jalfrezi are two separate and distinctly different dishes,” one pointed out. “And (they are) also cooked differently. The former is traditionally smoked in curry and the latter is dry with curry poured over.”

Other netizens joked around about the idea that Jalfrez was a person and not a stir-fried curry dish. “(Who) is Jalfrez?” one asked, playing along, “Definitely not sharing my butt chick with him.”

Still, one netizen clarified things by saying, “Premium Economy. Book the Cook menu from Sydney…Butter Chicken and Jalfrezi Vegetables. Butter chicken served with pilaf rice and curry vegetables.”
