UPDATE:
The People’s Action Party (PAP) in a statement released on May 3 described the allegations by Ridhuan as “fictitious”. It said that a check with volunteers had confirmed that the incident did not happen.
Alex Yam the political party’s Executive Director said, What is telling is that the (Facebook) post claimed that the volunteer had asked Mr Ridhuan Abdullah to attend the PAP rally to show support.”

“There was no PAP rally that day, and neither had any upcoming rally been announced,” he added.
Ridhuan has since taken down his post. But in responding to this publication’s sharing of the article in our Facebook, Ridhuan said that it was his words against theirs.

Ridhuan Abdullah shared in his Facebook about how People’s Action Party (PAP) candidate Murali Pillai’s campaign volunteer told him that Chee Soon Juan is worthless because he is not employed.
Dr Chee Soon Juan is the secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) and the political party’s candidate for the by-election in Bukit Batok.
From the secretary-general of the PAP, Lee Hsien Loong, to the Ministers in his Cabinet (Grace Fu, Heng Swee Keat and Halimah Yacob), have all attacked Chee’s integrity. Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam who agreed that there should be a clean contest with no mud-slinging as well as Murali Pillai have both said nothing about the character assassination of the SDP’s candidate.
Ridhuan said that he was at Bukit Batok Bus Interchange waiting for the bus yesterday (1 May) when he saw Murali and Tharman walking through with their many grassroots volunteers canvassing for votes.
Murali approached him and asked Ridhuan to vote for him. Ridhuan told Murali that he was not a Bukit Batok voter. One of Murali’s volunteer then asked Ridhuan to turn up at Murali’s rally to support the PAP candidate.
When Ridhuan said that he would not because he was a supporting Chee, the PAP campaign volunteer asked, “why support an unemployed guy to be an MP?”
“He is worthless,” the volunteer added.
Ridhuan said that there was awkward silence from the PAP volunteer when he asked, “I’m also unemployed. Does that mean I’m worthless also?”.
