Widow forced to sell HDB flat to finance medical expenses of late husband and ill mother-in-law

Chris Chua posted in his Facebook that the widow of his friend who passed away from cancer recently is forced to sell her 4-room HDB flat to pay for her late husband’s medical expenses, as well as to finance the hospitalisation bill of her mother-in-law who suffered a stroke.
His friend suffered from cancer and passed away at the age of 47, leaving behind his wife, a 2 year old child and mother.
The man’s mother recently suffered a major stroke and has to be hospitalised permanently.
“The hospital bill for both my friend and his mother run up to $200,000. His mother can’t use her CPF,” Chris said.
“(His wife is being) forced to sell their flat to finance the hospital bill and household bill urgently,” he added.
The HDB flat being sold is in Serangoon North Ave 1. The family is selling the flat with all furnishings and household items in them.
