Uncle hit by car while crossing road at Compassvale, but fellow jaywalkers just walk by without helping

When someone gets hit by a vehicle, it’s a reasonable expectation for most people to stop and help the victim, right? No matter what the circumstances, it’s just the right thing to do.

However, when one man among several jaywalkers was hit by a car at the junction of Compassvale Crescent and Compassvale Street, his fellow pedestrians just went on, without stopping to help him.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday (Sept 20) at 8:27 am, was caught on a dash cam and posted on the YouTube channel of SG Road Vigilante.

It shows at least three people—a couple and an older man—running across the road in the rain despite a red light. A few seconds later, they are followed by a man in a red shirt riding his bike.

However, a blue car then darts down the road and hits the older man, who is knocked off his feet and lands on his back.

Appearing to be winded, he sits back up and stays in the middle of the road.

The couple, who obviously saw the mishap, pause briefly in shock after the older man is hit by the car.

But then they turn away from the older man and keep on running across the street.

The man on the bicycle also just goes on by.

The driver of the blue car that hit the man does not appear to stop either, and the older man can be seen standing up, adjusting his shoes, and then going on.

Although he moves at a slower pace than before, he does not appear to be severely injured.

Commenters on SG Road Vigilante’s video expressed dismay that the other pedestrians didn’t even bother to help the older man.

“Humanity failed as the couple just walked without helping,” wrote one.

Some wrote that avoiding getting wet in the rain seemed to be more important to the couple and the cyclist.

Another netizen panned them for being “heartless.”
Others took on a sarcastic tone toward the (not) “Good Samaritans.”

Some netizens, however, hoped that the mishap would be a good lesson for jaywalkers.
