Short men need to earn SGD244,000 more per year to be as desirable as taller men — Study

Bad news for short guys: you may need to earn almost a quarter of a million dollars more per year to be perceived as desirable as taller men.

A popular Asian-American finance influencer, Vivian, who goes by “Your Rich BFF” on Instagram, asked “How much is six inches worth?” in a clip posted earlier this month.

She cited a University of Chicago study that said, a man who is 167.64 cm tall (five feet and six inches) needs to earn an additional USD175,000 (SGD244,000) to be as desirable as a man who is 183cm tall (six feet).

It seems that the taller, the better.

“And a 6’2” (187.96cm) man can afford to earn USD30K (SGD42,000) less and be as equally as desirable as a man just shy of 6’ (aka all my lil 5’11.5” liars).”

She added, however, that the study was only conducted for heterosexual scenarios.

But Vivan asked the “short kings” if they would consider earning more if this would improve their dating prospects.

She also asked the women who follow her if they would peerage a man who is 6 inches (15.24cm) shorter but who earns an additional USD175,000 (SGD244,000) annually, asking commenters to tell her how they feel.

Netizens had mixed responses to Vivian’s post:

“I’m 5’1” and my man is mayyyyyybe 5’4”. I don’t care what he makes!” wrote one woman.

Some women say they actually prefer to date shorter men.

One woman went as far as to say, “I’m so bored of this tall obsession.”

“Height don’t matterrrrrr!,” wrote another.

One shorter man also chimed in.

Another guy wrote that being funny can go a long way.

And one woman dismissed the whole issue by writing that she makes her own money.
