‘Two idiots pretended to hold guns along my corridor and then screamed into my unit’ — Resident, Choa Chu Kang HDB

Two young men disturbed the peace outside a Choa Chu Kang HDB unit as they screamed and pretended to shoot guns at each other. They were caught on one resident’s CCTV camera, and police were called afterwards.

Madam Soh submitted the footage to the crowdsourced news site STOMP. Netizens responding to the video slammed the young men described as being in their 20s for their foolish behaviour.

They may have been copying a popular TikTok challenge called “Who want smoke?”

Mdm Soh told Stomp that the incident occurred on the afternoon of July 23.

She called the youths “two idiots who pretended to hold guns along my corridor and then screamed into my unit as my main door was open.”

They appeared to find the incident humorous and ran away “giggling” after she looked out of her window.

She also told Stomp that fortunately, her mother was not home at the time, as the elderly lady would have been highly alarmed.

“If my mum had a heart attack, are they going to be responsible?” Mdm Soh said.

The duo’s strange behaviours started in the elevator lobby, with the men acting like they were “at war.”

“The shorter one clasped his hands together to ‘hold a gun’ while the taller one filmed him,” she said, adding, ”When they saw my main door was open, they literally stopped in front of my unit, screamed ‘OUI’ so loud that I was startled.”

Mdm Soh also said that her seventh-floor neighbour heard them laughing and talking afterwards.

She called their behaviour “disturbing” and added, “I think we need experts to guide parents to care and guide for their young adults.”

Netizens commenting on the report have condemned the young men’s actions, with many blaming challenges on social media platforms such as TikTok.

It’s unclear whether the youths in the Choa Chu Kang HDB unit incident were indeed doing a TikTok challenge, but there have been recent reports from the United States of young people filming themselves while shooting at each other with gel blaster toy guns, with bystanders getting hit as well at times.

A representative of the police confirmed they received a call regarding the incident at Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5 and added “No injuries were reported and no further police assistance was required.” /TISG
