A video of a Mercedes turning into a street and an incoming motorcyclist T-boning the vehicle has sparked a call among netizens and fellow riders to slow down when approaching a yellow box junction to avoid such accidents.

Facebook page ROADS.sg uploaded dashcam footage of the incident on Saturday (July 23), noting it happened along Kim Keat Road towards Balestier Road.

The video showed the camcar making way for the Mercedes, indicating intent to turn into the nearby street.

As the Mercedes moved across the yellow box junction, an incoming motorcyclist failed to stop on time and crashed into the vehicle.

The rider was thrown off the motorcycle as it skidded on the ground.

“Slow down when approaching yellow box junctions,” the page reminded motorists.

With over 310 comments to date, netizens and motorcyclists reminded road users to slow down at intersections.

“As a motorbike rider, driver may be liable? But they can fight during insurance claim la. What I see clearly is the motorcyclist at fault. Already see traffic held up with a yellow box, anticipate have vehicles turning in lor,” said Facebook user Noorlina Senin.

“The car driver is already very slow when turning, but the motorist is speeding,” noted Facebook user Ande Liew.

“I am a rider myself, and can say rider stupid for not slowing down at the junction. No matter right or wrong, no matter you have right of way or not, once banged, if lucky, only minor injury, if not, bye bye,” added Facebook user Jasper Chong.

Meanwhile, netizen TengYong Ng highlighted that the Mercedes driver was also in the wrong, based on the Highway Code.
