VIDEO | Malaysia Airlines’ cool flight safety music video amazes viewers while delighting travellers with ‘Satu Dua Tiga, Jom!’ (One Two Three, Let’s Go!)

“A musical in a safety video,” is how some are describing Malaysia Airlines’ star-studded over-the-top instruction guide, which dropped on June 21 and has been viewed on YouTube over 161,000 times.

“Sing and dance along to our new safety video,” says the video’s caption, and while some may find it cringey, others may well find themselves on their feet dancing along by the end of the video, which features football players and a Bohemian Rhapsody-type segment with rock stars, among others.

“Satu Dua Tiga JOM!” was produced in collaboration with theatre production group Enfiniti “to celebrate Malaysia’s rich heritage and performing arts.”

“This is not a normal in-flight safety video. I want them to be entertained and informed at the same time. When it’s fun, you watch it again and again. Better still, if they sing along… and memorise the safety instructions when they fly,” the video’s director, Ms Tiara Jacquelina, is quoted in The Star as saying.

Malaysians were both amazed and delighted with the new video, as seen from the comments on YouTube.

In response to the many, many positive comments, Ms  Jacquelina expressed her gratitude.

However, a number of commenters on Facebook and Twitter asked for refunds for cancelled flights, with some claiming these are long overdue, as well as other issues.
