Hawker stall rejects CDC voucher because their ‘handphone not working, cannot scan’ — Netizens say physical vouchers may be better alternative

A concern relating to using Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers was once again posted on social media, this time involving an allegedly broken handphone. “The cashier don’t allow me to use CDC voucher when clearly stated CDC voucher accepted at hawkers,” wrote Complaint Singapore Facebook page member Diana Mansor on May 24.

“Even pasted the poster on the stall,” she noted, attaching a video of a drink stall at Choa Chu Kang Crescent. The reason reportedly given by the cashier was her “hp sort (not working) unable to scan.”

The tension between Peter Ng, 56, and Ray Ng, 50, has become so deep that the two no longer work together, resulting in separate stores at 531A Upper Cross Street, Hong Lim Market and Food Centre.

What’s more, Tanglin Crispy Curry Puff Original (run by Mr Peter Ng) and Tanglin Crispy Curry Puff (run by Mr Ray Ng) stand just two spots away from one another. Their father,  Ng Yong Cheong, started the business in 1952, at the original stall, 02-36. The Ng brothers spent many years side by side at the stall, until March of this year, when Ray broke away to open the other unit two doors down.

28-year-old American mum Julissa Thaler was sitting in the car in traffic when police officers spotted her. They saw that her vehicle had the back window broken out and one of its front tyres missing. The car had done some damage to the road. She had blood on her hands and bullet holes in the backseat of her car. But the police let her go, and no one knows why they did that.

That was before they searched the car’s boot where they discovered young Eli Hart, who had been shot, as well as a shotgun. They then went to her apartment to find her. According to local media, when police finally apprehended Julissa Thaler, she was running from her apartment barefoot, with blood and what appeared to be brain fragments in her hair.

“Just to check with everyone, do your utility bill skyrocket this month? I wonder why?” asked Complaint Singapore Facebook page member Raziff Iskandar Bin Osman, attaching a photo of his billing from Singapore Power (SP) Group.

It started with people complaining of skin rashes that look like chickenpox at sexual health clinics in Europe after rave parties. The main symptom of monkeypox is a rash that looks like chickenpox before turning into blisters and scabbing.

Earlier in the UK, health officials have suggested that sex at two raves in Europe could be to blame for the mysterious monkeypox outbreaks on the continent. Although monkeypox is not a sexually transmitted infection (STI), it can be transmitted through direct contact during sex. Monkeypox is typically a mild virus that causes fever, headache, and a distinctive bumpy skin rash, but it can be severe. Symptoms usually go away after two to four weeks.
