Puppy love: WP leader Pritam Singh bonds with furry Eunos resident

Workers’ Party chief  Pritam Singh went on home visits in ward of Eunos this week and made new friends, including a rather furry one.  He showed off his new acquaintance, a small brown dog named Elle,  in a  Facebook post on Thursday. .

This time, Mr Singh, who had posted a photo of himself last July cradling a fluffy cat in his arms, is sitting on a sofa, with Elle perched on the armrest next to him and apparently whispering to him. Perhaps Elle wants to have a doggie park closer to her home,.

Many netizens found the photo with Elle quite charming. While the four other pictures Mr Singh posted last night featuring the humans of Eunos Vista did get “likes”, the pic with the pooch  got far and away the most social media reactions.

Mr Singh wrote in a caption: “I also met some new friends of the four-legged variety too. I have always loved dogs and I like to think that ‘Elle’ knew that, even if I didn’t quite get the point she was raising to me!”

The WP leader wrote that he had been “lucky” to find this resident, Mr Ong, at home with his family on the night he made the house visit.

Mr Singh was pleased to realise how neighbourly the residents really are. He saaid:

 “As I walked down the stack going to door-to-door, I realised that all the neighbours know each other well, and spoke in positive terms about each other. The bonds of these ground-up, organic neighbourly friendships are robust – as attested to by Mr Om Prasad and Mr Rashid’s families and many others I met last night. I thank them for inviting my volunteers and I into your homes for a more extended conversation, and the kind words of support to the work of the Town Council, and suggestions where we can do better.”

Netizens who commented on Mr Singh’s post appeared to enjoy his visit — especially his special moment with Elle  — as much as he did.
