Singapore — A major accident occurred along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) early Monday morning (Jan 31), resulting in a man being hospitalised.

Facebook page ROADS.sg uploaded a video of the accident on Monday, showing a white Mercedes travelling at high speed along PIE.

As the vehicle approached a bend on the expressway, the Mercedes driver appeared to have lost control.

The car began to fishtail, its rear swaying side to side before bumping the road divider.

The impact, added to the vehicle’s speed, resulted in the Mercedes flipping over.

The vehicle recording the scene on a dashboard camera captured the white sedan spinning in mid-air before crashing to the ground.

“The Merc caught fire after the crash. We pray that everyone will be alright,” wrote ROADS.sg in a follow-up comment.

Facebook page SG Road Vigilante – SGRV also uploaded photos of the aftermath of the accident, with Singapore Civil Defence Force firefighters at the scene.

According to a Straits Times report, a 32-year-old man was taken to the hospital after the accident.

The police said they were alerted to the crash at 1:04 am on Monday on the PIE towards Changi Airport before Thomson Road.
