Aunty scolds bus captain for telling man to alight for not paying fare; she also offered to pay for him

Singapore — An incident of a “hysterical aunty on the bus” scolding the bus captain is making rounds online. It appears that her actions stemmed from a kind gesture extended to another passenger.

On Monday (Jan 2), Facebook page ROADs.sg shared a video first uploaded by Singapore Incidents, further expounding on what happened in the 37-second footage.

“Hysterical aunty on the bus, not sure what happened,” wrote Singapore Incidents initially.

According to ROADS.sg, the man in a blue shirt allegedly tried entering the bus without paying.

The aunty then told the bus captain that she would pay for him, “but the bus driver told the man to get off, and the aunty started scolding the bus driver,” the page noted.

The video started with the man already making his way out of the bus while the aunty and bus captain were arguing.

As the man alighted, the aunty tried pulling him back inside. The bus captain then mentioned there were cameras on the bus and that the police would be alerted.

The bus captain was heard telling the aunty that he was late already, plus the man probably didn’t have money to pay for the fare.

“Sometimes it doesn’t hurt to close an eye and let the person ride free, especially from a big bus company. And rather wasting time for other passengers. Just my thoughts,” a netizen commented on the post.

The Independent Singapore has reached out to SBS Transit for a statement. /TISG
