Allan Wu, a Singapore-based actor and TV host best known for steering five seasons of The Amazing Race Asia, has tested positive for Covid-19.
Wu, 49, shared the news of his test result via Instagram on Dec 28.
“Well, I figured it was only a matter of time before this all-new Omicron variant caught up with many of us here in Los Angeles during the winter holiday season,” he wrote.
He continued by expressing his “relief” at not experiencing “any severe symptoms to the vast majority thanks to our vaccinations and boosters”.
“Now it’s just been playing the waiting game to see when I’m all clear to fly again. Until then, stay safe and be well!” he added.

In a follow-up post on Wednesday (Dec 29) on Instagram, he recorded a video message in which he offered additional details.
“This trip has been more than I bargained for, and it looks like I’ll be staying here longer than I intended, but luckily everything’s going okay,” he said.
Wu believes that he had “most likely” contracted the Omicron variant of the virus. The medical profession “have not specified exactly which one it is, but based on the symptoms, it looks like it is this one (Omicron)”.
Wu said he is “very very thankful” to have been vaccinated and to have received his booster shot, which he believes is why his symptoms have been mild.
“The symptoms aren’t too bad, no fever, got some body aches, sore throat. Think I’m on my way to recovery now, so that’s good. Definitely just looking forward to eventually recovering fully, testing negative, and making my way back outta’ here.” he said.
