Raffles Education stock plummets after tycoon Oei Hong Leong’s letter questions management’s high salaries

Singapore ― Following a letter by Singaporean billionaire Oei Hong Leong to Raffles Education Corporation’s (REC) board, the company’s shares dropped 26 per cent.

In his letter, which the market got a hold of, Mr Oei questions why REC’s chief executive and founder Chew Hua Seng had employed in the company “adult members of his family at high salaries.”

Thousands getting first Covid -19 jabs, boosters, after new rules for the unvaccinated

Singapore—Tough love seems to be working, for now at least.

The Health Ministry says that in the week after new vaccine-differentiated measures were announced, about 17,000 people signed up for and received their first Covid-19 vaccine shot. And another 162,000  had  booster shots.

This was a marked increase from the previous week, when about 11,000 people had their first shots, and 135,000  received booster jabs.

Singapore ― A video of two Caucasian girls on the train talking about their experience in Singapore has gone viral.

While it is unclear if they were on a train in Singapore, the two girls were wearing hoodies and pullovers. The video was an 8-second clip posted on Facebook page @Shioksg. In the clip, the following words were superimposed on the background: “when [I] think about the fact that [I] live in sg”.

Toddler who asked permission from airport guard to say goodbye to her aunt melts Internet’s heart

A video posted on Twitter of a little girl who asked a guard at the Dubai airport if she could say goodbye to her aunt has gone viral, with many netizens charmed by the toddler’s show of manners at such a young age.

The video, posted by @KaptanHindostan on Oct 14, has been liked and shared tens of thousands of times in the past few days.

Woman raped on train for 8 minutes, passengers do nothing

USA ― After a woman was allegedly raped while onboard a Philadelphia train, authorities wondered why nearby passengers did not do anything while the woman was being assaulted.

On Wednesday night (Oct 13), a woman taking Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority’s (SEPTA) Market-Frankford Line was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man.
