AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes: “If someone mentions BTS one more time I will kill myself”

Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia joked that he does not like K-pop.

“My wife is from South Korea, but I am tired of K-pop. If someone mentions BTS one more time, I will kill myself, or Blackpink, redpink or whatever pink.”

The genre sounded too uniformed to him, he said while speaking at a meet and greet session for his autobiography “Flying High” in Jakarta, Indonesia.

However, Fernandes is impressed with how South Korea markets their music.

The chairman of Malaysia Stadium Corporation (MSC) admitted that he would be seen as a failure if he could not bring the famous Korean pop group BTS for a concert in Malaysia.

Since his appointment as a chairman last year, he hinted that Malaysia could see acts like BTS “and who knows even U2”.

Fernandes was formerly attached to Warner Music Group and he shared his dreams of popularising Asia Pop.

Giving an example of Indonesia’s famous pianist Indra Lesmana, he said South East Asians were more talented than Koreans.
