Prime Minister’s wife agrees that being a grandma is “one of the best blessings in the world”

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s wife, Ho Ching, shared a somewhat personal post on Facebook today, agreeing with the sentiment that being a grandmother is “one of the best blessings in the world”.

Her social media post comes less than a month after she and her husband won praise for being so simple, after they were spotted with their grandchild at the Botanic Gardens.

Photos captured by eyewitnesses, showing the head of Government and his wife playing with their grandchild on a picnic mat and behaving like typical grandparents, quickly went viral online.

The post above, which was shared on Mdm Ho’s Facebook page today (8 May), is somewhat unusual compared to other posts on her Facebook feed.

Mdm Ho has a reputation for sharing a variety of links on topics such as science, health, entertainment, lifestyle, arts and socio-political issues. She rarely comments on her personal life, aside from sometimes sharing photographs of herself with her family.

A look at Mdm Ho’s Facebook page shows that she seems to share links non-stop, daily, linking dozens of articles nearly every hour. Most of these Facebook posts do not include a caption.

Many have commented that Mdm Ho’s high-frequency social networking patterns are strange, especially for someone who also serves as chief executive of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, Temasek.

Her seemingly constant presence on Facebook, despite her high profile job, has led some to wonder whether she uses a bot, a media manager or whether she really is a social media addict.
