Singaporean student in New York hit-and-run in critical condition

A 20-year-old female was the victim of a hit-and-run accident shortly befor 10:00 pm on November 1 on Hadley Road, at the University of Buffalo campus in New York.

The victim is a Singaporean woman and an undergraduate student at the University of Buffalo. She was immediately brought to Erie County Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.

The young woman, who has been unnamed in news reports, was crossing the street in front of the Hadley Village Apartments on the North Campus of the University of Buffalo when a car came suddenly and hit her.

Although the details of the woman’s injuries have not fully been disclosed, police have said that she has a broken hip and a broken arm, as well as suffered severe damage to her brain.

The incident is now under investigation by the University of Buffalo police since it occurred on campus. The police are looking for a dark-colored 2003-2008 model four-door Honda Accord with possible damages to its front right hood, bumper, fender, and headlamp.

The university police security cameras were able to take photos of the car of the accused driver, and have asked for anyone with information concerning the incident to come forward.

A statement from the University of Buffalo said, “The university is in close contact with her family and friends, and is providing whatever assistance it can, including making arrangements for the family’s stay in Buffalo. The entire UB community remains hopeful that she will make a full recovery from her injuries.”
