A woman posted about a complaint she filed about her neighbours, who do nothing about their child, whom she claims has been making incessant noises all day long every day since April of last year.

Posting on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page, Ms Seah Angeline Yoko wrote that the child starts “jumping, running, throwing beads, dragging furniture, slamming door and dropping heavy object daily without fail.”

On weekdays this goes on from 1:45 till 8 pm, and on weekdays and holidays, can last from 8 am till 8 pm or even later.

The police and HDB have visited “several” times, she added.

And two mediation sessions have also taken place, which she called “useless because the two offenders didn’t take the mediation seriously and there wasn’t a penalty.”

Ms Seah added that she had even visited the unit to tell the parents of the child about the noise.

However, they did not apologise, she added, but instead, the father told her to wear earplugs, and the mother merely closed the door on her.

“Meanwhile, I am waiting anxiously for new law/rules to be implemented and to punish this recalcitrant noisy neighbour,” she added.

Netizens were very sympathetic toward the woman, with some agreeing that the housing law should be revised.

Others gave suggestions as to how to escalate the matter.

Some said they experience the same problem.
