Uh-oh! SG TikToker shocked by insect infestation at Johor vacation flat

We often go on vacation to get away from our problems, but what happens when new ones crop up?

One woman posted on TikTok about a “freaking gross experience” in Johor Bahru while on a recent holiday with her family.

While the views from the flat she booked through Airbnb looked absolutely great, the unwanted guests—i.e. insects—were an unpleasant surprise.

@chellewmx’s video, which she posted on Sept 7,  has since racked up over 345,000 views.

She posted the video in the hopes that it would “bring awareness to the public,” she said in one comment.

The rental price of $145 per night had certainly been a reasonable one, except when you factor the insects into the bargain.

It’s unclear exactly what the insects are, but they could be ants or termites.

In the caption, she asked viewers to “please avoid” booking the apartment “at all cost if you can.”

To be fair, the flat appeared to be very clean and had nice furnishings, but a closer view of the baseboards and other areas near the floor revealed another story.

Furthermore, the TikToker said there were “more encounters after.”

She and her family did try to transfer accommodations, but she wrote in one comment that they arrived at the flat at 3:00 pm “and rest of their houses are fully booked.”

The cleaning fee they paid of $30 was refunded, however, by the host, who also offered to clean.

But the bugs were not the only problems.

The flat the TikToker booked is in a condominium in KSL mall, which, judging from the comments, other TikTokers have visited as well.

Commenters on TikTok said they had similar experiences at the condominium.

Others advised her as to what she can do when encountering problems with Airbnb accommodations.
