Due to Temasek’s selective disclosure of information, ordinary Singaporeans and even experts don’t know its actual financial state.

A question that’s been on my mind for quite a while – why has Temasek’s group net profit been stagnant despite a $78 billion increase in its portfolio value?

Temasek must also have been taking excessive risks or its FY2016 group net profit wouldn’t have plunged almost 50% from FY2015. We are not even in a financial crisis so will what’s going to happen when one strikes?

Temasek’s net profit was $8 billion in FY2016 and $9 billion in FY2007. If its investments were yielding really good returns, why is its FY2016 net profit lower than FY2007?
