SINGAPORE — On Friday (July 26), Samsung announced that it would be launching the Blackpink Special Edition set in Singapore. The limited edition bundle dedicated to the super popular K-pop girl group boasts of a Blackpink-themed Galaxy A80, Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy earbuds, all for S$1,198.
The bundle was released on Thursday (August 1) and will be available for a limited period of time in all Samsung Experience Stores and the official Samsung store on Lazada.
Fans of Blackpink, listen up. If there’s any Blackpink merchandise that you must own, this is the queen of it all. Buyers will get exclusive bragging rights to this special edition, only-for-now bundle.
We’re talking about a Samsung Galaxy A80 smartphone (check all its specs here), Samsung ear buds with their own case, and a Samsung Watch Active, all special edition Blackpink, meaning that everything in the bundle will be ultra-pretty in black and pink.
Even the box it comes in is gorgeous:
Before we get into the specifics of the technology, let’s discuss that heavy price tag (ouch!). While nearly S$2,000 might seem like way too much for the bundle, Samsung promises that it’s not just about how pretty the gadgets are.
According to Samsung, users will be able to access exclusive Blackpink content on the Galaxy A80, such as a Blackpink booting animation that launches when the smartphone is turned on, as well as curated Blackpink themes and icons.
Personalised home screen photos as well as a set of Blackpink character stickers in the likenesses of Blackpink members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé will be built into the smart phone.
The Galaxy A80 comes with storage space of 8GB RAM with 128 GB of internal storage. It boasts of three cameras – a 48MP camera, an ultra-wide 123-degree 8MP camera and a 3D depth camera – which will rotate whenever you flip the camera to the front or rear view on your phone.
The Blackpink Galaxy Watch Active will also feature a Blackpink booting animation and four types of Blackpink background screens.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds come with their own super cool case in the same black and pink colour theme.
Even the earbuds case is cool and super sleek:
Samsung announced that the Blackpink bundle was designed to “provide fans with an immersive experience for their active lifestyle” and allow them to “get more joy out of their favourite activities”.
Blackpink is not the only K-pop group with its own, specialised smartphone design. In 2018, super popular all-male K-pop group BTS enjoyed its own special edition by LG — the Q7 BTS Edition for 473,000 Korean won (S$547) in South Korea.
The Samsung Blackpink bundle won’t be around forever, so go out and get your own. All Samsung Experience Stores and the official Samsung store on Lazada will be carrying the special, limited edition set. -/TISG
