COVID-19: Previously anti-vaxxer, Siti Sarah’s brother now urge people to get vaccinated

Malaysia ― It has been reported that Ahmad Firdous, the elder brother of the late singer Siti Sarah Raissuddin said that being down with COVID-19 “knocked sense into his head” as he was previously an anti-vaxxer.

Ahmad Firdous said in a brief video testimony uploaded on Twitter by a doctor identified as Dr Khairful Hafidz yesterday that he initially thought that the danger posed by COVID-19 had been exaggerated and as a result, he did not bother to get vaccinated.

“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all frontliners for helping me recover from the coronavirus, and for making me realise how dangerous it is. My month-long stay in hospital was an eye-opener, it was harrowing to see what Covid-19 patients went through.”

He commended all frontliners as national heroes who protected Malaysia from its deadliest invisible threat which robbed the life of his only sister and thousands of others, reported New Straits Times.

“To all frontliners, I love and respect all of you. You took great care of me during my hospitalisation, and nursed me back to good health. I will always be grateful to you.”

He promised to get vaccinated quickly and urged all Malaysians to support the government’s ongoing vaccination drive.

On Aug 2, Ahmad Firdous was admitted to Serdang Hospital after being tested positive for COVID-19. His sister, Siti Sarah, 37 passed away at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Cheras on Aug 9, after battling the coronavirus for two weeks.

Her fourth child, Ayash Affan Shahmira was born prematurely three days before her death.

Born Sept 15, 1984, Siti Sarah Raissuddin was a singer and actress in Malaysia. Siti Sarah started her singing career when she became a finalist for Bintang RTM 2001. She also bagged Best New Artist, Best Pop Album and Best Album at the 2003 Music Industry Awards (AIM 2003). /TISG
