Scantily clad female hairstylists at a salon got members of the public wondering if “extra services” were offered.

Although news of the salon’s opening went viral on social media, it appears that the police were soon alerted to the scene.

AJ Hair Studio in Puchong, Selangor, opened last Thursday (June 2), according to SAYS. It offered S$0.30 (RM1) haircuts to welcome the public.

However, the salon went trending online for other reasons than the hair services it offered.

Photos of women in what appeared to be underwear and mini shorts, wearing only an apron on top, leaning over their clients created an online buzz.

“Are you all going to get your hair cut?” asked Facebook page Subang Jaya 梳邦再也, sharing the photos.

Soon enough, a rumour of the salon offering “special services” of a sexual nature spread online.

Concerned members of the public then alerted the police. Photos of officers conducting an inspection at the salon were also uploaded on Facebook.

The salon has since clarified that it was “just a normal hair studio” and also removed the controversial photos from its social media timeline.

The salon’s owner explained that the women were models hired for the grand opening. He added that the photos were meant to be “funny.”

“Don’t think too much, plssss,” the salon wrote on its Facebook page.

Once the misunderstanding passed, the salon soon faced another hiccup. On June 8, Free Malaysia Today reported that the salon didn’t have a valid license to operate.

The Subang Jaya City Council said it has “issued two compounds for operating a beauty and health centre without a licence and showing advertisements without a licence.”

It remains unclear if the shop will cease operations, although it has continued posting advertisements for services and products, the latest one on Saturday (June 11)./TISG
