Extra large pitbull mauls teen

An XL American pitbull pounced on a 15-year-old girl in a vicious attack, earning it the moniker “devil dog”.

After sinking its teeth into the defenceless girl’s arms and legs, the beast inflicted 17 deep bites and scratches.

The attack took place at a family friend’s house in June, and the youngster was rushed to a hospital in Dundee after she managed to flee for her life.

The girl told her mother, ‘mum I’ve never run so fast in my life – I thought I was going to die’.

Medics took three hours of surgery to fix her horrific injuries, and photos of her show the extent of the attack — the deep wounds on her calves, thighs, and arms.

Out of the 17 bites – one close to an artery – 13 bites are on one calf, a bite on her arm, and a big paw mark on her buttocks.

A 34-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the incident. She must be the pitbull owner. She was arrested after the incident was reported and charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

More dog attacks

There have been more recent dog attacks in the UK.

After being attacked by a dog in Liverpool, a four-year-old boy suffered serious, life-changing injuries.

According to police, the child was injured in the face and head by a Bull Mastiff type dog while visiting a friend’s house in Norris Green on Saturday.

A “brave neighbour” fought off the dog and “probably saved this young boy’s life,” according to a spokesman.

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the attack. In the hospital, the boy is in stable condition.

Officers detained the woman on suspicion of having a dangerously out-of-control dog and will question her.
