One-of-a-kind funicular lift in Pasir Panjang condo — Hong Kong tram-like super unique ride experience

Singapore — A 36-year-old condominium in Pasir Panjang Road offers a unique way of transporting residents across its floors – a funicular lift that feels like riding a tram.

The Palisades at 294 Pasir Panjang Road, offers a sea view of the Singapore Straits for resort-style living.

Completed in 1985, this development contains only 18 units, each with a private lift landing thanks to the lift that travels across each floor at a 22-degree angle up and down the hillside.

According to an Expat Living blog post, the unique funicular lift is the only one of its kind in Singapore. There are three of them in Asia and 10 in the world, the post noted.

But at the Palisades, however, there is only one lift, so when it’s under maintenance or out of service, residents will need to walk up the very long set of stairs.

A listing by PropertyGuru puts the price for one 3,294 sq ft unit at S$3.3 million.

This low-density development features units that are advertised as having four bedrooms, a kitchen connected to a yard, a porch, and a living room with a view of the sea.

However, Mothership reported on Oct 26 that the residents have agreed to put the place up for an en bloc sale, and that the property may be demolished as early as next year. /TISG
