Following the snaking queues at Swatch outlets on Saturday (Mar 26), the new collaborative collection by Omega and Swatch is now being resold on e-commerce platform Carousell, some reaching a whopping price of S$6,000 apiece.

Members of the public waited in line on Saturday at Swatch outlets at Marina Bay Sands and ION Orchard, hoping to get their hands on the watchmakers’ new MoonSwatch collection.

The collection is an affordable alternative to the Speedmaster, the first wristwatch worn on the moon. It features solar system-inspired watches such as “Mission to the Sun” or “Mission to Venus”, seen below.

Despite retailing for S$372, the watches were soon made available online to those who couldn’t queue, albeit at steep prices.

Here are some of the listings posted as of Sunday (Mar 27).

As for the S$6,000 listing, the seller admitted the price is marked up. “I had gather friends to queue in the morning for each of the watches (had to recruit many friends as 1 pax is only entitled to 2 watches.”

“6k is already a good deal for this rare Omega Collab. Price non-negotiable,” the seller added.

Following the increase in listings for the watches, Carousell users took it upon themselves to warn others of the scalpers.

“Not selling anything. Here to raise awareness,” wrote one user.

“Please note that these are not limited editions, do not believe what the scalpers say who are flipping it for a quick buck.”

“It is a plastic (marketed as bioceramic) watch with a quartz movement; there will not be any supply issues as these are mass-produced. Retails at S$372, and Swatch confirmed it would be available online soon,” the user added./TISG
